Anyone who knows me, knows I am a bookaholic. I read as many kids books/juvenile fiction as I do adult books. So it will come as no surprise that when I find an article that combines my love of authors and their work AND my need to inspire good writing in my students, I have to share it:
http://www.weareteachers.com/blogs/post/2014/09/29/11-amazing-quotes-from-famous-writers-and-writing-lessons-to-accompany-them
In case you didn't catch the name of the article in the link, it is "11 Amazing Quotes from Famous Writers and Writing Lessons that Accompany Them.". I especially like the Dr. Seuss inspired idea based on the book Wacky Wednesday. Have the students write a story about a day when everything went wrong. Use the latest movie-version of "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" or the original book as a jumping board too.

I have to admit though, I have a hard time choosing a favorite idea. So instead I guess I have 11 new writing lessons to help me inspire my creative kids! Good thing it is only October!
